Our staff have training and experience in supporting children with complex needs and are capable of supporting children of all ages, diagnoses and who require various levels of support.
Our speech pathology team at Active Eight will work with children or teens and their community to develop their communication skills and support them through their communication journey.
Babies initially express themselves through babbling, crying and gesture. Toddlers start using a few words with deliberate meaning. As time goes on, they begin to string words together to form sentences while learning to say more and more words. While this is happening, children begin to follow simple instructions and over time can follow more complex requests.
Some children may experience unique communication difficulties that affect their speech and language development, or swallowing ability. For instance, children may have difficulty making or combing sounds, struggle to understand what other people are saying, are unable to use sentences to express themselves, find it hard to manage conversations in social situations or are unable to read and write sentences. Early intervention can help your child overcome these language difficulties and develop healthy speech patterns.
